Now that the annexation of about 11 miles of Lafayette County land by the city of Oxford is complete, new voting districts will need to be determined.

Proposed Oxford ward/voting district map

Three Rivers Planning and Development District, in conjunction with Oxford officials, will host a public meeting at 6 p.m. tonight at the Oxford Conference Center to discuss the mapping of voting districts following the most recent municipal annexation.

The purpose of the meeting is to gain citizen input in order to develop the new ward lines.

A 12-member redistricting committee, nominated by the Board of Alderman, has been working with TRPDD officials regarding mapping and redistricting requirements. The map that will be presented at the meeting tonight was developed by TRPDD as a starting point for the discussion.

The public is strongly encouraged to attend and voice opinions to TRPDD officials, the redistricting committee and Oxford officials.
