Tornado Watch in Effect for Lafayette County

From the National Weather Service

The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for Lafayette County until 5 p.m. Saturday.

A watch means conditions are favorable for the possibility of a tornado forming. A Tornado Warning means rotation has been spotted.

There is an enhanced risk of severe weather across most of the Mid-South. Damaging wind is the main threat. Secondary threats include a few tornadoes, large hail, and locally heavy rain. A strong tornado is possible mainly east of the Mississippi River.

The severe weather threat ends across northeast Mississippi during the early evening.
