OPD: Drive-by Shooter Held on $100K Bond

An Oxford man was arrested Easter Sunday for allegedly shooting at another vehicle during a drive-by shooting and injuring one.

According to the Oxford Police Department, at 3:45 p.m. Sunday, OPD officers responded to Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi for a victim who had been shot in the arm while driving.

Officers learned that the victim had been shot at by another vehicle while on Hillmont Drive and was continually shot at while driving on Highway 6. During the course of the investigation, Christopher Butler, 29 of Oxford, was identified as the suspect.

Less than two hours later Butler was arrested and transported to the Lafayette County Detention Center.

Butler is charged with Drive-by shooting and felon in possession of a firearm. He was given a bond of $100,000 by a Justice Court Judge.
