Arnold Pegues, left, will face off against Kesha Howell Atkinson on July 2 for the Ward 4 alderman seat. Absentee voting is now available at the City Clerk’s Office.

For Ward 4 residents who won’t be in Oxford for the July 2 alderman election, absentee voting is now open.

Arnold Pegues and Kesha Howell-Atkinson are the two candidates hoping to become Ward 4’s next alderman.

The seat was opened when the late Ulysses “Coach” Howell died in May. He served as the Ward 4 aldermen for 26 years.

Registered voters in Ward 4 can vote absentee at City Hall between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Voters will need a valid form of identification to cast their vote.

The Clerk’s Office in City Hall will also be open on Saturday, June 29 from 8 a.m. to noon to allow for absentee voting. It will be the last day to cast an absentee vote before the election on July 2.

On July 2, the polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and all Ward 4 residents will cast their vote at the Oxford Conference Center.
