Oxford Police Dept. message for the public: “We are still having complaints of citizens being contacted by people over the phone claiming they need money for a relative. These callers are asking citizens to load money on a greendot card and give them the numbers off the card. Please know this is a scam. If you do not know who you are talking to please do not give them any money nor any credit or debit information.”
Oxford police responded to the following incidents: two disturbances, two welfare concerns, two suspicious activities, a petit larceny, a lost property, a noise complaint, a trespassing, a civil matter, an improper parking, and a motorist assist.
Oxford police investigated seven wrecks, issued nine traffic citations and made four arrests on the following charges: shoplifting, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of drug paraphernalia with failure to comply with officers, and driving with a suspended drivers license.
Oxford police discovered no code enforcement violations.
University police responded to the following incidents: an accidental hit and run at Women’s Terrance Lot, an attempted suicide, an accidental hit and run with property damage at Brown Hall, a vehicle stop at Fraternity Row, a vehicle stop at Manning Way, a suspicious vehicle at Fraternity Row, and a service call for an ambulance at Martin Hall.
Oxford Fire Dept. responded to the following call: a smoke detector was activated by cleaning the grill at Lamar Lounge.
