Larry Binion – Burglary of a Business

On May 10, 2015, Discount Building Materials was broken into. Investigators located a video of the suspect. After attempts to identify him were unsuccessful investigators then checked with other agencies in the area to assist. The investigators were contacted by the Eupora Police Department who also had a business burglary similar to the burglary in Oxford. Their suspect resembled the same person as the one in the video. As talks continued with them the Eupora police contacted Oxford investigators this week to inform that Houston Police Department had a Subway restaurant broken into and they caught a suspect. The suspect was Larry Binion, 49 of Greenwood. In each video, Binion had on the same clothes and same motive as he entered the buildings. Investigators identified Binion as the suspect from the Discount burglary. There may be more suspects involved and investigators are working with the other agencies to finalize the cases.

Oxford police responded to the following incidents: five suspicious activities, three alarms, three disturbances, three 911 hang up calls, a noise violation, a lost property, a simple assault, a trespassing, harassing phone calls, a civil matter, a grand larceny, a damaged property, a careless driver and a malicious mischief.

Oxford police investigated six wrecks, issued 27 traffic citations and made eight arrests on the following charges: (2) warrant served; (2) public intoxication; a running a red light with no car insurance but with a suspended driver’s license; a running a red light with speeding, reckless driving and a suspended driver’s license and also fleeing with DUI; a trespassing with failure to comply; a possession of drug paraphernalia with a warrant served.

University police responded to the following incidents: a disturbance via loud music and unnecessary noise at Residential College, a vehicle stop on Hill Drive, and a service call for an ambulance at Residential College.

Oxford Fire Department responded to the following incidents: an alarm malfunction in a handicapped restroom at 7:36 a.m. in Pittman Hall, a truck running into a building at 10:02 a.m. at 2126 South Lamar, and seven water flow alarms in four different buildings activated from 1:36 p.m. to 5:49 p.m. due to a drop in water pressure from a water main breaking at University of Mississippi.
