July 3 Rainfall Breaks Regional Record

According to the WTVA Weather Authority, the North Mississippi region has officially broken the record for the most rainfall on a day in July.

By 1 p.m. today, the Tupelo Regional Airport reportedly showed 4.96 inches of rain, with more rain to come.
WTVA reports that the old record was 3.98 inches on July 25, 1941.

Many counties north of MS 32, including Lafayette, are still under flash flood warnings and watches. Weather officials expect the system to shift southward throughout the rest of the day.
