Jason Charles Holtgren – Grand Larceny

Jason Charles Holtgren, (36 of Hammond, Louisiana) was found in Hammond with a vehicle that was stolen from Oby’s in Oxford on December 19, 2015. Holtgren stole the vehicle and drove it to his hometown where he had a verbal disturbance with his girlfriend that caused the Hammond police department to be called to the scene. Upon the police’s arrival, Holtgren fled the area on foot. After a short chase, Hammond police took him into custody. While at the scene, the Hammond police ran the tag and saw the car was indeed stolen.

Holtgren is currently in jail, but the Oxford police department placed a hold on him. Whenever Hammond police department clears Holtgren, he will be transferred to Oxford police’s custody to face a judge for his Grand Larceny charge.

Derrick Brown Jr. – Embezzlement

On Tuesday, February 2, Oxford police investigators served an arrest warrant on Derrick Brown Jr. (23 of Indianola, Mississippi) for Felony Embezzlement (97-23-19). The police arrested Brown after the Wal-Mart staff caught him embezzling $1,100 from mid-December to the end of January. Brown has been booked into the Lafayette County Jail and his bond was set at $2,500.

John Key – DUI to Third Degree

On Tuesday, February 2, the Oxford police officers arrested John Henry Key (56 of Oxford). His arrest was a result of a traffic stop for a seatbelt violation. The police subsequently arrested Key for seatbelt violation, no driver’s license and DUI to third degree. His bond was set at $2,850.

 

Jason Bland – Embezzlement

On Wednesday, February 3, the Oxford police investigators served an arrest warrant on Jason Bland (33 of Water Valley) for Felony Embezzlement. He was caught embezzling over $1,000 from Kangaroo gas station on Highway 278 West. His bond was set at $5,000.


Oxford police responded to these following incidents.

Tuesday, February 2: four suspicious activities, three alarms, two improper parking, two 911 hang up calls, a shoplifting, a petit larceny, a fire department assist, a recovered property, a malicious mischief and a lost property.

Wednesday, February 3: three welfare concerns, three disturbances, two alarms, an ambulance assist, a malicious mischief, an animal complaint, a 911 hang up call, a lost property and an improper parking.


Oxford police investigated car wrecks, issued traffic citations and made a number of arrests.

Tuesday, February 2: eight wrecks, 19 traffic citations and three arrests on the following charges:
Warrant served
Speeding, failure to yield and DUI
No seatbelt, no driver’s license and DUI

Wednesday, February 3: six wrecks, 53 traffic citations and eight arrests on the following charges:
(2) Warrants served
(2) Possessions of drug paraphernalia
Simple assault
No headlights and DUI
Leaving the scene of an accident and DUI
Speeding, fake ID and possession of drug paraphernalia


University police responded to these following incidents.

Tuesday, February 2 six vehicle stops, a vehicle wreck on Fraternity Row, and accidental hit and run at Overby Center.

Wednesday, February 3 two vehicle stops, a suspicious vehicle in Kincannon parking lot, a service call for an ambulance at Brown Hall, a suspicious vehicle in University Circle, a petit larceny at Kincannon Hall, a burglary at Kappa Sigma house, and a vehicle accident on Dormitory Row West.


Oxford Fire Department responded to these following calls.

Tuesday, February 2
Smoke detector activated at 3:47 p.m. by burned biscuits in the microwave at TownePlace Suites by Marriott
Smoke detector activated at 8:07 p.m. due to spraying air freshener at Brown Hall

Wednesday, February 3
Cancelled call at 7:01 a.m. at the Winchester
Alarm activated at 11:54 a.m. due to workers sanding sheet rock at the Pi Kappa Alpha house
Water flow alarm malfunction at 1:17 p.m. at the Delta Gamma house
Fire alarm system issues at 7:16 p.m. at 1075 Augusta Drive
