Update on Kayla Thomas of Water Valley, Mississippi

15871648_1468979296465433_3719233155877232572_nOn December 31, 2016, Kayla Thomas of Water Valley, Mississippi, was in a horrific car accident, leaving her in critical condition.

Thomas’ mother, Lisa Thomas, has kept followers updated through her Facebook page. Around 1 p.m. today, Lisa stated that Thomas has followed the doctor’s commands by raising her fingers, and the doctor is ready to “wean her off” the ventilator.
“If they have to put it [the ventilator] back in, they will do it through her throat,” Lisa said. “[The doctor] said she is about to be in a lot of pain because she is waking up some. He said she is not going to be very happy. They will give her pain medicine, but not too much.”
Thomas is currently restrained so that she can’t pull any tubes or the ventilator out, as she tried to do yesterday shortly after her first surgery. Her next surgery won’t take place until next week due to her type of trauma.
“Her vital signs are good. Her heart rate and blood pressure goes up some, but that is normal,” Lisa said. “They are about to take her off the sedation and said she was going to start throwing a fit and trashing. He said they will be right there with her. I feel like this is good, but I don’t know what to expect. Kayla is very strong. Please pray for her to remain calm and get through this.”
