Barry Cannada And Chancellor Vitter Sign Final Union Beam Along With Ole Miss Students

Barry Cannada along with Chancellor Vitter sign the beam going into the Student Union.

Friday, the University of Mississippi gave students, faculty and alumni a chance to leave their mark on the Student Union.  As they placed the final beam next to the Lyceum to be signed, Barry Cannada and Chancellor Vitter were among the last to write their signatures.

Cannada, who is now an attorney in Ridgeland with Butler-Snow, served as Ole Miss ASB president in 1976-77.
As the construction of the 150,000 square foot Student Union continues, Union Director Bradley Baker is happy to see students embracing the project.
“We wanted the students to have an opportunity to leave their mark on the building. Today was ideal because of the timing of the year so we can do it outside and the weather has cooperated with us,” Baker said. “We’re really excited to give them this chance for their names to be on it for years to come. We want students to embrace the building as their own.”
