A Mississippi National Guard soldier was killed during a training operation at Fort Irwin, California on Monday.
Three soldiers were also injured as a result of the incident. All four soldiers are from the 155th Armored Brigade Combat Team out of Tupelo. The injured soldiers are in stable condition after being transferred by military helicopter to an area hospital.
The names of all four soldiers will not be released until 24 hours after the families have been notified.
Mississippi Governor Phil Bryant expressed his condolences through a Facebook post earlier today.
“We lost a Mississippi National Guardsman last night during training in California. Three others were injured. Let us come together in prayer for the loved and lost in this tragedy,” Bryant said.
