Abner’s Famous Chicken Tenders restaurant, founded in the heart of Oxford, Mississippi, in 1993 by former Ole Miss football player Abner White, has been a landmark for Oxford residents and Ole Miss students for 25 years. The locally owned restaurant is gearing up for this year’s football season and ready for tailgating orders at its flagship location off the Square at 430 South Lamar Blvd in Oxford.
Abner’s second location in Oxford at 1927 Jackson Ave W closed today as Abner’s Inc. is working to streamline the restaurant’s focus in Oxford to its flagship store and other locations. “I have always been committed to where we started 25 years ago,” said Abner White, founder of Abner’s Inc. “I founded Abner’s after graduating from Ole Miss and want to put our focus on our roots to make our flagship location better than ever.”
Abner said he is looking forward to celebrating the 25th anniversary of the original location this Fall. In addition to the flagship Oxford location, other Abner’s locations in Tupelo, Memphis and Brandon are open and further expansion is being planned.
