Lafayette County Fire Department firefighters spent four hours early Wednesday morning fighting a house fire.

A call came into 911 close to midnight reporting a structure fire on 260 County Road 425, the location of Wildrose Kennels.

The homeowner saw a glow on the ground and looked outside to see the roof of the house on fire, according to fire reports.

The family made it out of the house without injury; however, the structure was a total loss, according to firefighter Douglas Sullivan-Gonzalez.

It’s still unknown what caused the roof to catch fire.

No firefighters were injured while battling the blaze.

Sullivan-Gonzalez said the kennel was not damaged by the fire and no dogs were injured.
