Field Named For Former Baseball Coach

Former Northwest Mississippi Community College baseball coach Jim Miles was honored during the college’s homecoming activities on Oct. 5 at the Senatobia campus. The Northwest baseball field was officially named by the Northwest Board of Trustees for Miles, who coached at Northwest from 1976-1997.

Miles was honored by Northwest President Dr. Gary Lee Spears, current head coach Mark Carson, former baseball coach and athletic director Donny Castle and former players. Miles led the Rangers to five region championships, six state championships and 10 north division titles. He finished his career with a record of 556-304-3 (.646) and also led the Rangers to NJCAA World Series appearances in 1996 and 1997. (Photo by Julie Bauer)
