Three matches into the Todd Shulenberger era, Ole Miss looks like a team that knows exactly who it wants to be. Organized. Aggressive. Comfortable on the front foot. The Rebels just don’t always look like that type of team.
On Thursday night in Charleston, the Rebels added another piece to that identity with a 1-0 win that felt steadier than the score suggests.
Ava Ghoreishi delivered the moment that mattered. Her first goal as a Rebel came early in the second half, cleaning up a rebound at the 51:19 mark after Teaghan Irvin forced a save.

It was the kind of goal that rewards persistence more than flash, and it fit the tone of the night. Ole Miss didn’t need a highlight reel. It needed someone to finish one of the many chances it kept generating.
And there were plenty of them.
Ole Miss outshot Charleston 16-1 and didn’t allow a single shot on goal. The Rebels spent most of the night pushing the Cougars back, starting with Isabelle Wright’s early attempts and continuing through steady pressure from Isabella Pontieri, Audrey Shackelford, Becca Skinner and Katie Ramsden. By halftime, Ole Miss had a 10-0 shot advantage and three on goal. The only thing missing was the breakthrough.
Once Ghoreishi provided it, the defense handled the rest.
Taylor Prigge didn’t have much to do, but she did exactly what a keeper should in a match like this. She stayed sharp, stayed organized and helped deliver the team’s second shutout of the season.
Charleston’s lone attempt came in the 81st minute and didn’t even reach her thanks to a block in front. That was the Cougars’ only real look all night.
The numbers tell the story. Ole Miss placed eight shots on goal, earned six corner kicks and held 52 percent of the possession.
More importantly, it looked like a team that has settled into its rhythm. Three matches, three wins, and three performances that point toward a group growing more confident by the day.
The road trip wraps up Sunday at UAB. If Ole Miss keeps playing with this kind of control, it’ll head back to Oxford with a perfect start and a clear sense of momentum.
The Rebels aren’t just winning. They’re building something.
