Just two weeks after winning the Kentucky Derby, California Chrome won the 2014 Preakness on Saturday afternoon in Baltimore, Maryland.
California Chrome is the three-year old colt predicted by most to win this year’s Triple Crown. He completed the track in 1:54.84 in front of 123,469 fans at the Pimlico race track. He won by one and a half lengths ahead of Ride on Curlin, followed by Social Inclusion and General A Road.
The last portion of the Triple Crown series is the Belmont Stakes on June 7th. If California Chrome wins at Belmont, he will be only the 11th horse to ever win a Triple Crown.
