Ready for Another One Night Stand at the Ole Miss Motel?
Art is an affair of the heart at eighth annual event.
Most one night stands are kept hush-hush the morning after, but in this case, you’ll want to hang a memento on your wall.
The eighth annual One Night Stand motel art show is from 7 until 10 p.m. on Saturday, October 5, presented by Amelia, The Yoknapatawpha Arts Council and The Motel Art Show. The work of each artist is presented in a room at the Ole Miss Motel in Oxford. Art lovers tour the rooms, where the walls are adorned with paintings and other pieces.
Each year, One Night Stand founder Erin Austen Abbott selects a mix of veteran artists and newcomers to exhibit at the show, which is free to the public—though donations are accepted. This year’s One Night Stand features 10 artists in 10 rooms: Evan Baroffe, Lamar Sorrento, Megan Hurdle, Kate Roebuck, Hilary Maslon, Dorothy Collier, Lo-Fi, Laura Roebuck, Adrienne Brown, and Kate Freeman.
“People can look forward to the transformation of 10 rooms by 10 very different and unique artists, coming from Georgia, Tennessee and Mississippi,” Abbott says. “While I do curate the show as a whole, how the rooms are transformed is left to the vision of the artists. It will be a surprise to me as much as it will be to those attending. It’s always such a fun event and each year proves bigger and better than the last.
The Ole Miss Motel is at 1517 University Avenue. For more information, click here.
