My friend Captain Midnight attended Lafayette County schools, and Harmontown is part of Lafayette County, even though it’s quite a drive to get to. it’s located north of Sardis Lake, requiring you to pass through Marshall County to get to it.
Many years ago, Midnight told me that at the beginning of school some girls on his school bus, picked up at Harmontown, would have chigger bites on their legs. He said he went home from school and told his mom of girls on the bus having “Harmontown legs.”
Since then I have always wanted to memorialize this concept in song, and I finally did. Without further adieu, here is “Harmontown Legs”:
