Last year, Andi Bedsworth launched Meet the Artists Camp at the Powerhouse Community Arts Center, with local artists, and this summer she’s bringing it back, July 7 through 11. This year’s artists are Sarah Frances

Hardy, Jere and Joe Ann Allen, Mari Foster, Ginny Chavis, Ashley Chavis, and Adrienne Brown David. Each artist gives a short demo/presentation to show the children their craft. The children are allowed to ask questions.
“Last year, they were very engaged with the artists and their work,” Bedsworth says. After each artist leaves, the children do a project in that artist’s style using the media he or she used. “It was a lot of fun, and both younger kids and older kids responded well.” The 2013 artists included Jere and Joe Ann Allen, Jeff Allen, Ron Dale, Bill Beckwith, Lucius Lamar, Janet Barnes, and others.
The event will have two different sections: Ages 3 to 9 in the morning and 10 to 17 in the afternoon.
