YAC Offers Summer Art Camps for All

Each summer, the Yoknapatawpha Arts Council offers a variety of art and acting classes and camps for both children and adults! Sign up today before all of the classes are full! Click the class name to register for the class online.
Summer 2014 Camps
With art camps, the beginner and intermediate classes are for ages 3 through 9 and the advanced classes are ages 10 through 17.
Theater Camps
Summer Play #1
June 9th – June 26th
In this summer camp, the instructor will choose a play, and the students will audition for roles. Then they will intensely rehearse it as professional theatre company would.
Art Camps
Make Your Mark – Print, Stamp, Stencil (ages 3-9) Happening now!
June 23rd – June 27th
Learning how to apply ink with a brayer, we will create lots of effects and learn how to customize our prints and creations with stamps, stencils and more to create book marks, cards and custom prints. We will also learn how to use everyday materials in making our customized printing.

Meet the Artists – Advanced
July 7th – July 11th
We will study their techniques and make our own creations based on their styles. This will be a fun camp that will allow students to talk and listen to working artists in our community.
Folk Art (ages 3-9)
July 14th – July 18th
By studying folk artists such as Clementine Hunter, Mose Tolliver and others, campers will create their own folk art.
Modern Art (ages 10-17)
July 14th – July 18th
Artists such as Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, Jasper Johns, Paul Klee and others will be studied and will inspire our own modern art works.
Explorations in Art (ages 3-9)
July 21st – July 25th
We will learn about printmaking, collage, painting, and various other art forms. Pastels, paint, and clay will be used in various different projects designed to give children an overview in various art disciplines.
Fiber Art (ages 10-17)
July 21st – July 25th
Fun techniques such as needle felting, wet felting, hand-stitching and more will be covered in this class geared to introduce the student to the fascinating world of fiber art.
Collage and Basic Mosaic – Beginner and Intermediate
Collage and Basic Mosaic – Advanced
July 28th – August 1st
Basic mosaic work will be covered as well as fun collage projects inspired by pieces by Henri Matisse, Eric Carle and others.
Last Call Summer Camp (ages 3-10) Filling up fast!
August 4th – August 8th
This class will feature arts and crafts as well as a movie in the afternoons. There are half day and full day options available.

Theater Classes
Theater Improv and Solo Performance Workshop
An improv workshop for adults. This class will meet from 7 to 9 p.m. on Mondays, Sept 1 – Oct 20.
