Do Us a Solid, Check Out Dylan Sevey and the Gentlemen
Got a text on Saturday from a great friend involved in the music scene in Boston, “Do me a solid and go to Proud Larry’s tonight and show those boys from Providence some love.”
Dylan Sevey and the Gentlemen have been on a tour of the South, spreading their music that almost has a southern flair. The show was rockin’ and the crowd enjoyed the band, if the dancing was any evidence.
Sevey had a great stage presence, engaging the crowd with the occasional “Hotty Toddy” throughout their set. Apparently, his girlfriend attends Ole Miss. I didn’t get the full story on that one, but he knows the ways of Rebel Country enough to include Oxford on his list of towns to play. That list included bigger cities like Nashville, Memphis, St. Louis and New Orleans. But the front man claimed several times from stage, and in this video, that Oxford was not only the BEST show of their tour, but their best show EVER! Now that counts as showing some love! Dylan Sevey loves Oxford
Both the music and the temperature were hot here on Saturday night. But it is August in Mississippi, and Proud Larry’s was the perfect place to savor the heat and work up a good sweat.
