Just an hour ago Nicolaas “Nik” Scholtz, South African native who for three years brought awards and honors to Ole Miss men’s tennis team, tweeted his decision to remain one more year with the Rebels.
Scholtz was greeted with immediate happiness on Twitter from the Rebel Nation.
Ole Miss’ athletic director Ross Bjork tweeted a screenshot of Scholtz doing his signature celebration to him in celebration.
Scholtz’s collegiate career is impressive. He was the first Rebel to be named as SEC Freshman of the Year in spring 2012. He was one of only nine players and the only freshman to earn All-American honors in both singles and doubles. And that was just him getting started.
Now two years later at Ole Miss he is a SEC Player of the Year and has yet again been named to All-SEC first team. He is the first to b named both SEC Freshman and Player of the year in his career. He helped lead the Rebels to their 21st consecutive NCAA appearance as well as helping them advance to the second round of the NCAA championships.
It will be exciting to watch him don red and blue one more time this year!
