The Yokshop Returns this May for More Writing, Fellowship, Catfish
Whether or not your mother is a fish, you can learn something new at the Yokshop, a multi-day writing workshop, which takes place from May 15-17. The Yokshop features three days of writing workshops, readings, open mics, craft talks, and, of course, catfish from Taylor Grocery!
Participants in this workshop bring up to 20 pages of their work to be read and discussed by published authors and other conference participants. Writers get constructive feedback as well as a chance to learn from experts in the field. All skill levels are welcome.
Workshop leaders include New York Times bestselling author M.O. Walsh (My Sunshine Away), as well as critically acclaimed novelists Hannah Pittard (The Fates Will Find Their Way), Scott Morris (Waiting for April), Randy Bates (Rings: On the Life and Family of a Southern Fighter), Sean Ennis (Chase Us), and Stella Connell (literary publicist). The majority of the workshop’s events will be held at the Powerhouse Community Arts Center in Oxford.
“This is the perfect weekend for anyone who loves to write,” says conference director M.O. Walsh. “It’s not often that you can get detailed feedback about your work from published authors. Plus, the craft lectures and readings are incredibly helpful and inspiring, and the open mic gives budding writers a chance to get their feet wet in front of a welcoming audience. The conference has a fun and encouraging vibe and former registrants have gone on to publish work in prestigious journals nationwide. It’s a great and productive time.”
So, brush off your novel or finish up your stories and register for the Yokshop before it’s too late! The workshop is limited to the first 20 registrants and spots are going fast!
