Monthly Oxford Flea Market Brings Local Goods, Fun Day

Oxford Flea is taking off with local residents after two incredibly successful weekends.

The flea market, which opens every first Saturday of the month from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the parking lot at Molly Barr Road and Jackson Avenue, celebrated its second market May 2 with a large crowd and a beautiful day.

“My husband Benjy and I got the idea for Oxford Flea after traveling around to other cities looking for unique items in thrift shops and flea markets,” co-owner Liz Barrett Foster said. “We thought, ‘Why doesn’t Oxford have something like this?’ So we decided to start one ourselves.”

Benjy and Liz are both avid shoppers, collectors and researchers, and Benjy has been attending antique auctions since he was young. They’re excited to bring an outdoor market to Oxford that will highlight the talents and interests of so many people in Oxford and surrounding areas.

The next event will be Saturday, June 6. For more information on upcoming market dates and available vendors, follow Oxford Flea on Facebook and online.
