‘One Night Stand’ Brings Art and Dining to Ole Miss Motel
One Night Stand art showing returns for its eighth year at the Ole Miss Motel this Saturday evening.
This one-of-a-kind gallery is the brainchild of Erin Abbott Kirkpatrick, owner of Amelia’s Presents on the Square in Oxford. Kirkpatrick has always held it at the motel to create a mini-arts crawl atmosphere.
Each artist takes a motel room and rearranges it to showcase their art. Some have pushed beds together (and some hid the bed) while a few decorated the bathrooms with paintings and crafts. This year’s showing will have 10 artists, and there is a new addition to the art show.
Kirkpatrick said, “From 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., there will be a paid event where you get a dinner from Saint Leo, a drink (from Cathead Vodka), plus first dibs on buying art for $20. And for $30 you get first dibs on previewing art, a dinner and a drink, and a lunch tray painted by a local artist. Then from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., it’s free as usual with Saint Leo set up all night, selling their amazing food.”
The tickets to art preview are available at the door prior to 6 p.m. Kirkpatrick warns that parking will be limited since there is no parking on grounds of the motel that evening and she advises to plan on carpooling or parking at the bank across the street.
The artists this year are Amy C. Evans, Lo-Fi, Lamar Sorrento, Hannah McCormick, Lauren Dayan, Frank A. Estrada, Claire Whitehurst, Jonathan Kent Adams, Arienne Brown-David and ebw art.
