Ole Miss Soccer Announces 2016 Signing Class

Just over two months after making history within the Ole Miss Soccer program, head coach Matt Mott and his staff kept the momentum rolling with the announcement of the 2016 signing class Monday.

The Rebels added seven star-studded players to its crop for the future of the program, including three forwards, three defenders and a goalkeeper.

Included in the class are Shannon Maitland (5-4, D/MF, Belleville, Illinois), Gabby Little (5-7, F, Collierville, Tennessee), Madison Meador (5-7, D, Ballwin, Missouri), Grace Waugh (5-5, D/MF, Plano, Texas), Claire Williams (5-7, GK, Oak Park, California), Maddi Falter (5-6, F, Murfreesboro, Tennessee) and Alley Houghton (5-3, F, Oxford, Mississippi).

HIGH SCHOOL: All-state player out of Marquette High School in Chesterfield, Missouri … First Team All-State … Three-time all-conference player … Twice named to all-metro team … Named to all-region team and best defender and team MVP … Helped lead the Mustangs to the district championship for the first time ever as a sophomore … Team captain … Currently ranked No. 70 in the TopDrawerSoccer Top 150 … Ranked No. 1 in TopDrawerSoccer Region (Heartland) and No. 12 at her position … Named a Renaissance Scholar … Earned the Winner’s Circle Award, Marvelous Mustang Award, and Silver Scholar Athlete Award … Also a recipient of the Future Stars Award through the St. Louis Soccer Hall of Fame … Also played basketball for the Mustangs … Coached in high school by Chris Kenny.

CLUB/ODP: 2011-13 u13 SLSG Elite Missouri Stat Cup Champions … U.S. Club Soccer id2 Camp in Raleigh, North Carolina in March 2012 … U.S. u15 Girls’ National Team (Chula Vista, California) in February 2013 … 2013 u15 USWNT Pool Player … Participated in ECNL PDP in Wisconsin Feb. 2-3, 2014 … Invited to the 2014 Puma Women’s Elite Showcase in Orlando, Florida … No. 63 in the 2014 Winter TopDrawerSoccer Girls Top 150 Rankings … Winter TopDrawerSoccer Girls Regional Ranking, No. 1 Heartland … Winter TopDrawerSoccer Girls Positional Ranking, No. 11 defender … 2015 ECNL North America Division National Playoffs, Second Place with Seattle.

Shannon Maitland | Defender/Midfielder | 5-4 | Belleville, Ill. | Althoff Catholic HS

HIGH SCHOOL: Lettered four years at Althoff Catholic High School in Belleville, Illinois … As a junior and sophomore, earned All-Sectional IHSSCA honors, named to the South Seven All-Conference First Team, and News Democrat All-Area First Team … Tallied 16 goals and 21 assists through three seasons of high school action … Named class Valedictorian … Member of the National Honor Society … An Illinois State Scholar, and recipient of the Young Women of Achievement Award … Coached in high school by Juergen Huettner.

CLUB/ODP: Member of the 2011 Illinois State ODP Team … Played club soccer with St. Louis under coach Scott Gallagher … Helped her squad to a third place finish at the 2014-15 North American Cup Playoffs.

Gabby Little | Forward | 5-7 | Collierville, Tenn. | Houston HS

HIGH SCHOOL: Four-year letterwinner out of Houston High School in Germantown, Tennessee … Named Gatorade Player of the Year … Helped the Mustangs to state championships in 2013 and 2015 … Earned four district and regional championships from 2012-15 … School ranked No. 1 nationally by MaxPreps in 2015 … Tallied 65 goals and 51 career assists for the Mustangs … Houston High School Honors Academy 2012-15 and honor roll 2012-16 … Coached in high school by David Wolff.

CLUB/ODP: Member of the ’98 Lady Lobos Rush Premier … Two-year captain and a starter for nine years … Played in the Disney Cup Finals in 2014 … Southern Region Qualifier in 2015 and Tennessee State Soccer Cup Runners-Up from 2013-15 … ODP Region III Pool Player Selection in 2014, and Tennessee ODP Player Selection 2011-14.

Maddi Falter | Forward | 5-6 | Murfreesboro, Tenn. | Riverdale HS

HIGH SCHOOL: Four-year letterwinner out of Riverdale High School in Murfreesboro, Tennessee … Named 2014 All-District First Team, Best Attacker and Team MVP … Tallied 48 goals in her high school career and 18 assists … Coached in high school by Anna Gerhart.

CLUB/ODP: Member of the Tennessee ODP 2010-14 … 2014 Region III Pool and played in the 2014 Thanksgiving Regional Event … Also played for the Tennessee Soccer Club, where she totaled nearly 100 goals and 40 assists for the U15-17 teams … 2012 RPL Champions and 2012 USYS National Finalist … 2013 MRL Premier Division Champions … 2014 Region III MVP and Gold Boot Award Winner … 2014 USYS National Best.

Alley Houghton | Forward | 5-3 | Oxford, Miss. | Lafayette HS

HIGH SCHOOL: Local product out of Lafayette High School in Oxford … Holds the Mississippi state scoring record with over 232 career goals, breaking current Rebel Addie Forbus’ former goals record … As a junior, named 2015 Gatorade Player of the Year, MaxPreps honoree, All-State First Team by Clarion Ledger, Daily Journal North Half MVP, NSCAA State Player of the Year, NSCAA All-America Team, NSCAA High School All-Region Team, Daily Journal Player of the Year … Named offensive MVP 2011-15 … Helped the Commodores to the 2014/15 District Championship … 2015 Mississippi North Half Champions and 2015 State Champions, going 20-4 … Responsible for more than 200 goals and nearly 50 assists in her career … Set a new high school record as a freshman with 54 goals and six assists … Tallied 39 scores and 17 assists as a sophomore … Scored 69 goals as a junior and dished out a state record 15 assists, formerly held by current Rebel Addie Forbus … Earned the Scholar Athlete Award each year since 2011 … Earned the 2015 Red and Gold Award and member of the National Honor Society … Coached in high school by Melinda Scruggs.

Grace Waugh | Defender/Midfielder | 5-5 | Plano, Texas | Plano West Senior HS

HIGH SCHOOL: Three-year starter out of Plano West Senior High School in Plano, Texas … Four-year varsity player at defender and midfielder … Helped the Wolves to the 2013 5A UIL Texas State Championship, going 28-0-2 ranking first in the nation by NSCAA … Also finished as state runners up in 2014 … PWSHS Varsity Soccer Captain in 2016 … Earned 5A UIL Texas High School Soccer First Team All-District Honors in 2014 and 2015 … Earned the Plano West Soccer Attitude Award in 2013 … TopDrawerSoccer Best XI Title Winning Performances – Defender 2015 ECNL National Playoffs … Named to TopDrawerSoccer’s 2016 Texas Region Top 40 list … U.S. Club Soccer id2 in 2012 … Coached in high school by Tara Balogh.

Claire Williams | Goalkeeper | 5-7 | Oak Park, California | Oaks Christian

HIGH SCHOOL: Four-year letterwinner out of Oaks Christian School in Westlake Village, California … Helped the Lions to a Division II CIF runner-up finish in 2015 … Helped the Lions to the Division II CIF Championship in 2014, and part of the 2013 club that finished Division III State runners up … Named All-Marmonte League and earned the Lion Award … Recorded a 0.79 save percentage as just a sophomore, allowing 0.92 goals per game … Tallied a 0.80 save percentage and 0.95 GAA as a junior … Has recorded shutouts in half her matches played in her high school career … Received the Lion Scholar Award each year … Named a Top Ten Scholar, Headmasters List, Junior class representative, Senior Vice President and National Honor Society … Coached in high school by Sebastian Alvarado.

CLUB/ODP: Member of the Eagles Soccer Club ECNL, where she held a 1.17 goals allowed average and 0.80 save percentage.
