Trent Harmon, of Amory, was crowned the 15th (and last) American Idol last night on the series grand finale. This season has come a long way since the American Idol bus rolled up on the Ole Miss campus for auditions last summer.

As the winner, Harmon will fulfill a number of American Idol appearances and will go on to record his first studio album as a country artist with 19/Big Machine Records. According to Big Machine Records President, Scott Borchetta, Harmon will make a “Justin Timberlake country record.”

Runner-up and Mississippi native, La’Porsha Renae, also has bright career in front of her. The runner-up of American Idol is not normally offered a record deal, but La’Porsha is gearing up with 19/Big Machine/Motown Records and will embark on her own musical journey.

Apart from both Mississippi natives landing record deals with one of the top record label in the country, the surprises did not end there. Minutes before Trent was announced as the winner, host Ryan Secrest gave two keys to brand new Ford focuses to Trent and La’Porsha.

HottyToddy.com is proud of these two, great Mississippians. Trent and La’Porsha have represented the Birthplace of America’s Music well, and we cannot wait to buy their albums!
