University of Mississippi alumnus and Vicksburg native Stephen Wagner is starring in the title role of “Kid Frankenstein: The Musical,” an off-Broadway play at the Theater at Blessed Sacrament in Manhattan.
The production began on October 6 and runs through November 5. It features music by David Mallamud and book and lyrics by Peter Charles Morris.
Wagner earned his B.F.A. in Musical Theatre at Ole Miss. His previous stage credits have included George in “The Wedding Singer”; Puck in “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”; Woof in “Hair”; and Emcee in “Cabaret.”
Reimagining the classic Mary Shelley story for the 21st century, “Kid Frankenstein: The Musical” tells the story of weird goings-on at Frankie Steiner’s house as the boy genius works on his entry for a robotics competition. It’s presented by New York-based Vital Theatre Company.
