Oxford Film Festival Screens "Rocky Horror" and "Halloween" Oct. 31
When’s the last time you did the Time Warp? You can do it again next week as the Oxford Film Festival screens “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” as a part of a Halloween Double Feature Bash on Tuesday, Oct. 31.
The fundraising event, which takes place at the Powerhouse, also features the seminal horror classic, “Halloween.” The doors open at 6:30 p.m. next Tuesday, and the screening of “Halloween” begins at 7 p.m. “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” follows at 9 p.m. Costumes are encouraged, and the gallery will have popcorn, candy and a full cash bar.
Several options for ticket purchases are available. General admission tickets cost $30, and a “Rocky Horror” prop bag is available for $10. Limited VIP guest passes will be sold for $50 and include $10 access to both screenings, the “Rocky Horror” prop bag, snacks, and beverages as well as reserved seating and access to the private party room.
Guests can also buy $5 raffle tickets to win a free VIP pass to the 2018 Oxford Film Festival. Volunteer opportunities are available throughout the event. A cast of “Rocky Horror” characters will help guide the audience through the screening experience.
“’Rocky Horror’ is a classic, fun way to spend Halloween, and after last year’s success, we decided to double the fun,” said Melanie Addington, executive director of the Oxford Film Festival. “This event is the perfect way to spend your Halloween night, and all proceeds will go directly to the upcoming 2018 Oxford Film Festival.”
The Oxford Film Festival was founded in 2003 to bring exciting, new and unusual films (and the people who create them) to North Mississippi. The annual five-day festival screens short and feature-length films in both showcase and competition settings, including narrative and documentary features and shorts; Mississippi narratives, documentaries and music videos, and narrative, documentary, animated and experimental shorts. The festival is a 501c3 not-for- profit organization.
