Ole Miss redshirt sophomore and wide receiver D.K. Metcalf announced he has declared for the 2019 NFL Draft via Twitter on Friday putting a close to his college career.

“I have enjoyed my time at Ole Miss, gaining brothers and a family, now it’s time for me to pursue my dreams of playing in the NFL,” Metcalf said on Twitter. “I want to thank the University, my coaches and teammates, but most importantly my family for helping me through this process.”

Metcalf played in 21 games during his three years as an Ole Miss Rebel where he caught 67 passes for 1,228 yards and 14 touchdowns.

The Oxford native only saw action in seven games in 2018 as he went down with a neck injury on the first drive of the game against Arkansas. Metcalf recorded 26 catches for 569 yards and five touchdowns.

After his injury in October, Ole Miss head coach Matt Luke said, “He would be fine long term, [he’s] just out for the rest of the season.”

In 2016, Metcalf scored two touchdowns in his first two games prior to breaking his foot against Wofford. Last season he played and started in all 12 contests tallying 39 receptions for 646 yards and seven touchdowns.

Ole Miss’ season came to a close on Thanksgiving as they fell to Mississippi State 35-3.
