UM Museum Exhibit One of Top Five Things to Do in the South

RobbinsRobbins photograph set makes this week’s Southern Living Hot List

Every Monday, Southern Living publishes its online “SL Hot List” — five things it considers noteworthy that are hitting the South. The magazine calls the roundup “our region’s most buzzworthy food, culture, and style news.”

This week, the SL Hot List includes a photo exhibit at the University of Mississippi Museum, stating:

“Often photographed, the Mississippi Delta continues to inspire artists such as Columbia, South Carolina-based Kathleen Robbins. Her new exhibit “Into the Flatland” at The University of Mississippi Museum features photos from visits home to the area (left is nearby Brooklyn Chapel) and her family’s farm and reflect her sense of familial obligation, ties to the land, and feelings of nostalgia. Catch the exhibit up now through August and look for Kathleen’s book in fall 2014.”

Into the Flatland: Photographs by Kathleen Robbins runs from April 16 through August 3, with an opening reception Tuesday, April 23 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the museum.

The University of Mississippi Museum is located at the intersection of University Avenue and Fifth Street and is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. The museum is closed on Monday and regular university holidays.
