Madi George keeps stacking awards like it’s her side hobby, and at this point the freshman slugger is making it look routine.
The SEC announced Tuesday that George was named SEC Freshman of the Week, the latest addition to a trophy shelf that’s filling up fast.
It’s her first SEC weekly honor, but it came on the same day she swept the national awards.
She was named the D1Softball National Freshman of the Week, the Softball America National Freshman Star of the Week and Softball On SI’s National Freshman of the Week.

That’s a clean sweep, and it fits the way she’s been playing.
George hit .636 last week with three home runs, 10 RBI, a double and three walks. She had another multi-homer game against Southern Miss, then drove in six more runs in the Auburn series win, including a 3-for-3, five RBI performance in game two. It’s been that kind of month for her.
And really, it’s been that kind of season. George has already set single-season program records for home runs (21), RBI (56) and total bases (132).
She’s hitting .400, slugging .880 and owns a team-high .497 on-base percentage. In April alone she’s hitting .442 with 11 home runs and 25 RBI.
She ranks fourth in the SEC in home runs and sits tied for 13th nationally. Among freshmen, only Oklahoma’s Kendall Wells has more.
You could call that a 𝐒𝐖𝐄𝐄𝐏 🤯
Congratulations to @madilynn_george for being selected as the @D1Softball National Freshman of the Week, the @SoftbalAmerica National Freshman Star of the Week and Softball on SI's National Freshman of the Week!

All of this is happening while Ole Miss is grinding through a tough year.
The Rebels haven’t had the season they wanted, but George has been a bright spot, a force in the middle of the lineup who’s playing like one of the best freshmen in the country.
Ole Miss wraps up the regular season this weekend with a three-game home series against nationally ranked Mississippi State.
And once that final out is recorded, the conversation shifts to something fans don’t want to think about yet.
When a freshman puts up numbers like this, the transfer portal becomes a real concern. Now is when the worrying starts.
