Oxford Crime Report: Friday – Sunday, November 20 – 22

Oxford police responded to the following incidents: 31 alarms, 24 suspicious activities, 20 improper parking, 13 disturbances, nine lost properties, eight civil matters, seven welfare concerns, six petit larcenies, six noise violations, five fire department assists, four ambulance assists, four motorist assists, four malicious mischief, two careless driving, two false pretenses, two shopliftings, two counterfeit currencies, two house burglaries at Mondrian Lane and North 11th Street, an animal complaint, a harassing phone call, a credit card fraud, an auto-burglary at University Avenue, a code violation, a simple assault and a 911 hang up call.

Oxford police investigated 28 wrecks, issued 95 traffic citations and made 104 arrests on the following charges:
(41) Public intoxications
(20) Open containers
(10) Minor in possession of alcohol
(5) Careless driving and DUI
(3) Minor in possession, fake ID and open container
(2) Shoplifting
(2) Operating an illegal taxi
(2) Public intoxication and failure to comply
(2) Public intoxication and fake ID
(2) Open container and minor in possession of alcohol
Warrant served
Disturbing the peace
Possession of marijuana
Ran a stop sign with DUI
No seatbelt and simple assault
Possession of drug paraphernalia
Ran stop sign, fake ID and a DUI
Minor in possession with a fake ID
Speeding, failure to yield and a DUI
Public intoxication and resisting arrest
No driver’s license, failure to yield and a DUI
Public intoxication, resisting arrest and a simple assault
Careless driving, possession of drug paraphernalia and a DUI
Wrong way on a one way, possession of drug paraphernalia and a DUI
Public intoxication, possession of drug paraphernalia and a possession of Schedule II narcotics

University police responded to the following incidents:

An intoxicated person on campus
Disturbance in Kincannon parking lot
Report of an intoxicated person at the Ole Miss Inn
Report of an auto burglary at The Whirlpool Building
Saturday, November 21
(2) Reports of intoxicated persons
Grand larceny at Hume Hall
Petit larceny at Martin Hall
Possession of drug paraphernalia at Stockard Hall
Public drunk with malicious mischief on Alumni Drive
Public drunk with disorderly conduct and refusal to leave the Grove
Sunday, November 22
(6) Possession of alcohol in Brown Hall, Kincannon Hall, Pittman Hall and Martin Hall
Disturbance at the Campus Walk Apartments
Petit larceny at the Vaught-Hemingway Stadium
Accidental hit and run at the Sigma Pi fraternity house

Oxford Fire Department responded to the following incidents:
Thursday, November 19
Sprinkler system alert at 11:40 a.m. by workers working the sprinkler system without notifying the dispatch at Natural Products
Ambulance standby at 6:59 p.m. at 107 Cotton Creek since no ambulance was available
Smoke detector malfunction at 10:37 p.m. at Sigma Alpha Epsilon house
Friday, November 20
Fire extinguisher discharged at 1:23 a.m. as a prank on 10th floor of Stockard Hall
Cancelled call at 9:01 a.m. at Delta Gamma house
Cancelled call at 2:20 p.m. at Highway 6 and West Jackson Avenue
Car fire at 2:34 p.m. on Highway 6 behind the soccer fields
Cancelled call at 5:33 p.m. at 900 Muirfield
Smoke detector malfunction at 11:38 p.m. at Sigma Alpha Epsilon house
Prank pull of the fire alarm at 11:58 p.m. at The Lyric
Saturday, November 21
Prank pull of the fire alarm at 2:58 a.m. on fifth floor of Stewart Hall
Detector malfunction at 3:40 a.m. at Natural Products
No alarm found at 10:39 a.m. at Turnberry Condos Building K
Smoke detector activation at 12:43 p.m. by burned food at Canterbury Crest 113
Smoke detector activation at 5:07 p.m. by burned food at Taylor Bend Apartments 8803
Water flow alarm malfunction at 9:09 p.m. at East Rebel Club
Sunday, November 22
Smoke detector activation at 12:29 a.m. by turning on heat at the Holiday Inn Express
Prank pull at 3:09 a.m. at The Connection Building 6
Cancelled call at 8:58 a.m. at 2504 Capital Street
Smoke detector activation at 5:36 p.m. by cooking at 112 Orrwood
Wreck with a spill at 6:34 p.m. at College Hill Road and Golf Course Road intersection where the fire department discovered the spill was antifreeze, not gas
Unfounded call at 11:19 p.m. due to a neighbor thinking an apartment was on fire because she saw a yellow light at C.B. Webb Apartments

    How many of the illegal parkings were on game day and possibly in front of a bed and breakfast that isnt very well marked as no parking and then hauled off the car and left vistors not knowing anything., while police watched them park. Same story every ball game. Easy money if i am right for some one in uniform.
