Acting Like a Caveman (or Woman) for Health and Fitness: Part 2

Sleep like a caveman.

UnknownAs you already know, our ancestral cavemen (and women) are notorious for staying constantly active and consuming a “Paleo” diet (why this is even considered a “diet” now is beyond me. Some people act like eating real foods shouldn’t be the norm). After the caveman was finished hunting and eating dinner, what do you think he did? He definitely didn’t stay up until 1 AM watching sitcom reruns or browsing the internet. As soon as the sun went down, chances are the caveman went to sleep and didn’t wake up until dawn.  A good night’s sleep allows the body to recover properly from the activities of the day before, and to be fresh for another day of adventure and survival. The increasing mental workload of today’s society puts a strain on the body and the mind, which makes an adequate night’s rest just as important now as it was then.

If you want to live a healthy lifestyle, act like a caveman and sleep as much as they slept. Shoot for 7-8 hours per night of uninterrupted sleep, and try to go to bed at the same time every night. Your body will thank you.
