Move to Learn Team Visits Oxford Elementary School

When kids get to move at school, schools get better: it’s the concept that supports a program called Move to Learn.
Move to Learn officials, including the star of the exercise break videos Coach Calhoun, recently visited Oxford Elementary School to get them to move and learn at the same time. Teachers and students alike were engaged as Coach Calhoun encouraged all to raise student fitness levels and in turn, raise student achievement.
The Move to Learn exercise videos offer brief, organized and free classroom breaks. The breaks help teachers manage their students’ energy level so that after a fitness break, children’s brains are more focused and ready to learn or take a test.
The videos, developed by Mississippians for Mississippi children, are presently used in Oxford Elementary School classrooms and teachers like this resource because it helps them prepare students to meet education standards.
Move to Learn is offered through The Bower Foundation and the Mississippi Department of Education’s (MDE) Office of Healthy Schools. For more information on Move to Learn, visit their website.
