Oxford Crime Report: Friday – Sunday, March 11 – 13
Oxford police responded to the following incidents: 11 suspicious activities, seven disturbances, five welfare concerns, three petit larcenies, three careless drivers, two ambulance assists, two harassing phone calls, two animal complaints, two illegally parked parks, two fire department assists, a 911 hang up call, a recovered property, a motor vehicle theft, a simple assault, a noise violation and a civil matter.
Oxford police investigated nine wrecks, issued 75 traffic citations and made 12 arrests on the following charges:
Petit larceny
Simple assault
Ran red light and DUI
Careless driving and DUI
Careless driving, speeding and DUI
Switched tag and possession of marijuana
Possession of Schedule IV narcotics and DUI
Speeding and possession of drug paraphernalia
Careless driving and possession of drug paraphernalia
Careless driving, no driver’s license and no insurance
Possession of Schedule II narcotics, no headlights and suspended driver’s license
Careless driving, possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting arrest and possession of marijuana in a motor vehicle
University police responded to the following incidents:
Friday, March 11
(4) Traffic detail at Chucky Mullins Drive, Gertrude Ford Boulevard and Insight Park
(3) Vehicle stops
(2) Suspicious vehicles at Kincannon Lot and Insight Park
Fraud by false pretenses at Union
Saturday, March 12
(2) Public drunk at Stockard Hall and Residential College
Vehicle stop on All American Drive
Suspicious person and vehicle at Campus Walk
Sunday, March 13
Vehicle stop on All American Drive
Oxford Fire Department responded to the following calls:
Friday, March 11
Water leak onto smoke detector at 5:15 a.m. at Oxford Health and Rehab
Smoke detector activated at 7:46 a.m. by cooking at 112 Orrwood
Fire alarm pull station mechanical issues at 7:49 a.m. at High Cotton
Wreck at 9:29 p.m. but no extrication at Highway 6 and 7
Saturday, March 12
Smoke detector activated at 8:00 p.m. by cooking at Country Club of Oxford
Sunday, March 13
Heat duct detector malfunction at 1:55 p.m. on an air handling unit at Diagnostic Center
