The Ole Miss Barnes & Noble bookstore has moved to the Jackson Avenue Center while the Ole Miss Student Union on campus undergoes renovations.
The new Barnes & Noble opened late December at the Jackson Avenue Center. Their current hours are Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. In celebration for the new store opening, Barnes & Noble is holding a 20 percent off school supplies sale from Jan. 23 – Jan. 28, 2017.
When students arrive back on January 23, 2017, for the spring semester, store hours will be extended to:
Sunday, January 22 – 12 p.m. – 6 p.m.
Monday through Friday, January 23 – January 27 – 9 a.m. – 7 p.m.
January 28 – 9 a.m. – 6 p.m.
January 29 – Closed
Barnes & Noble’s previous location at the Student Union is completely closed, and the grand opening for their new location is on January 23, where they will host giveaways, door prizes and refreshments. Students will be able to arrive early to the store and pick up their books before classes begin.
Parking will be much more convenient for off-campus students to stop into Barnes & Noble as anyone can park at the Jackson Avenue Center. Stopping in quickly to purchase a scantron or books will be much easier than it was on campus, where students had to find a place to park and walk to the Student Union. All Ole Miss parking passes work for parking spots at the Jackson Avenue Center and for on-campus students, the Brown Line O.U.T. bus makes stops every few minutes to and from campus.
Students will use their new location to pick up their textbooks for the upcoming spring 2017 semester.
Renting textbooks will be the same process as it has been previously where students can order their books online and pick up at the store. Barnes & Noble’s price matching feature will also still be the same to make it more convenient for students to order through the official Ole Miss bookstore.
“We will be ramping up that program and adding more with what students can price match from. As of right now, we will price match from Amazon.com itself, not any third parties,” said Laurie Woo, the manager of the Ole Miss Barnes & Noble.
The Jackson Avenue Barnes & Noble store will have everything that the old store did except for the Starbucks coffee cafe. Like the old location, there is still a section of the store with snacks and coolers with sodas, water and juices available for purchase. An added feature of the new store will be a Keurig for students to grab coffee on the go.
Woo is excited for making the bookstore more available to the Oxford community with the change of location as it will be more accessible to outside customers than before.
